As one of the most influential transportation and smart mobility exhibitions in Latin America, Intertraffic Mexico is held annually at Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City, co-organized by Tarsus Services S. de R.L. de C.V. and RAI Amsterdam B.V. The exhibition focuses on intelligent transportation systems, road safety, infrastructure, and sustainable mobility solutions, attracting global technology companies and innovation brands.

To help international exhibitors—especially those from China—better understand Mexican exhibition regulations and local differences, we have summarized the following key points and participation advice based on the official Exhibitor Manual.
1. Organizer and Venue Regulations
Intertraffic Mexico is jointly managed by Tarsus and RAI Amsterdam. The venue is Centro Citibanamex. Once an exhibitor signs the booth contract, it is deemed that they agree to all terms and conditions listed in the exhibitor manual.
⚠️ Important Note:
In case of any discrepancy between organizer policies and venue rules, the venue's regulations prevail—a common practice for exhibitions in Mexico.
2. Booth Types and Standards
The exhibition offers two types of booths:
Premium Package Booth (Shell Scheme)
- White partition walls (height: 2.44 m)
- Fascia name board with company name and booth number
- Carpet, lighting, table, chairs, waste bin
- 120V / 1000W power outlet
- Inclusion in show directory and media promotion
- 24-hour perimeter security and public area cleaning
Raw Space Booth (Space Only)
- Only floor space, general lighting, and public cleaning provided
- Exhibitors must build their own booth and submit design and insurance documentation
Minimum booth size: 9 sqm; subletting or brand sharing is prohibited.
3. Move-In and Move-Out Schedule
Mexico's exhibition timelines are strictly enforced:
| Stage | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Raw Space Exhibitors | 2 days before show (12:00–22:00) | Setup staff only |
| Shell Scheme Exhibitors | 1 day before show (08:00–18:00) | Light equipment move-in |
| Show Days | 3 days (11:00–18:00) | Booth must be staffed at all times |
| Dismantling | After show closes (from 18:30 to 06:00 next day) | Early teardown is fined |
⚠️ All workers must wear safety helmets. No construction or heavy moving during show hours.
Late entry, overtime work, or early dismantling may result in fines up to US$1,000.
4. Safety and Insurance Requirements
Mexican exhibitions apply strict safety and insurance regulations:
- Booth construction materials must be fire-retardant
- Painting, welding, or open flames are prohibited
- Exhibitors must provide insurance certificates with minimum coverage:
- Personal injury: 500,000 MXN
- Property damage: 250,000 MXN
Both Tarsus Services and Centro Citibanamex must be listed as additional insured parties.
The organizer assumes no liability for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Security patrols cover only public areas, not individual booths—exhibitors must safeguard their own valuables.
5. Booth Design and Height Limits
All booth designs must be submitted for approval in advance. Due to Mexico's detailed administrative procedures, it is recommended to apply 45–60 days before the event.
| Booth Area | Max Height | Additional Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| ≤9 sqm | 3.5 m | Total height includes logo/lightbox |
| 9.01–18 sqm | 5 m | Design drawings required |
| ≥18 sqm | 7 m | Must be signed by a structural engineer |
| Double-deck booths | ≤5 m | Must comply with Mexican Civil Protection Law; safety rails & fire devices required |
Additional rules:
- Overhead rigging allowed only for booths ≥54 sqm
- Bridges connecting adjacent booths are not permitted
- Logos or lightboxes facing neighboring booths must maintain 3 m distance from boundaries
- Ramps required for raised floors (slope ≤10%)
- Heavy equipment weight limit: 2,500 kg/m²
6. Venue-Specific Regulations (Mexico)
Labor and Union Rules
- All workers must comply with the Mexican Federal Labor Law
- Exhibitors are responsible for registering their staff with IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute)
- Organizers and venue bear no responsibility for third-party labor issues
No-Tipping Policy
- Tipping venue or contractor staff is strictly prohibited
- Any solicitation of tips must be reported to the organizer immediately
Promotion and Advertising
- Giveaways, raffles, and marketing activities must remain within booth boundaries
- Distributing flyers or gifts in aisles or public areas is prohibited and may result in removal
Photography and Filming
- Filming or photographing other booths or exhibits without permission is forbidden
- Official photography and video require written authorization
Food and Beverages
- All catering is managed exclusively by Centro Citibanamex's food service department
- Beverages may be offered inside the booth but must not obstruct aisles or cause littering
Age Restrictions
This is a B2B professional trade show—no persons under 21 years old (including children and infants) are permitted.
7. Starrise Insights | Key Lessons from Mexican Exhibitions
Compared to U.S. exhibitions, Mexican expos feature more complex safety, labor, and approval systems. Exhibitors should pay attention to:
- Authorized service providers only – logistics, rigging, and freight must go through official contractors
- Insurance and liability – under Mexican law, exhibitors assume full responsibility for third-party risks
- Cultural and communication differences – enforcement is strict, but on-site interactions are flexible; having a Spanish-speaking staff member is highly recommended
- Planning and timing – all approvals must be obtained early to avoid delays or penalties
8. Practical Recommendations
- Submit booth designs and insurance certificates well in advance
- Understand Mexican union regulations; avoid hiring unapproved labor
- Purchase additional insurance for valuable equipment
- Use fire-rated materials and comply with height restrictions
- Avoid distributing materials in aisles, loud demonstrations, or use of paint/open flames
- Prepare Spanish-language brochures, product sheets, and credentials
